(5-17-18) This year’s annual Mendon Memorial Weekend is sponsored by the Mendon Union Alumni Association. There will be a variety of activities from May 25th-28th To kickoff this years events, Butch’s Solo Jam, performed by Butch Rinderle will be performing on Friday night May 25th. He will be playing at the shelter house from 7-9 p.m., featuring sounds from the 60’s and 70’s. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a great evening with live music, food, and fun.
Hometown boy, Ron Rasberry, and his band, Rasberry Jam, will be returning to entertain from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday night May 26th. He will be playing songs from the 70’s, 80’s and many more favorites. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to enjoy a great outdoor concert with family and friends. Bring your lawn chair and there will be food available.
Sunday morning beginning at 10 a.m., there will be an outdoor worship service with Pastors Rob Glen and Jason Boroff officiating This community event will also be held at the shelter house and, all you need to bring is a chair. Later that day, from 4-6 p.m., there will be a free will offering Ice Cream Social at the Mendon First Church of God. This event will be followed by a gospel concert led by Pastor Todd O’Neal at the church.
The highlight of this weekend’s events, Monday May 28th, will be the annual Memorial Day parade featuring many veterans, men and women, representing all branches of the United States Armed Forces, Parkway’s High School Marching Band, and Girl Scout and Boy Scout Troops. The parade will be held at 8:30 a.m. with Memorial Services by the monument after the parade. A free will offering breakfast will be available before and after the parade at the United Mendon Methodist Church, provided by the youth group.
