St. Henry, OH — The Mercer County Republican Party recently hosted a successful Reagan Day event at Romer’s Catering in St. Henry. An enthusiastic crowd of conservative supporters welcomed Congressman Jim Jordan to Mercer County.

In Congress, Jordan has also emerged as a prominent defender of the taxpayer’s pocketbook through his work on spending issues. In 2009, he introduced the only balanced budget alternative to President Obama’s budget. In the 112th Congress, Jordan served as chairman of the House Republican Study Committee, the largest caucus of conservatives advancing conservative ideals and solutions on Capitol Hill. Jordan helped found the House Freedom Caucus and served as its first chairman. Jordan has been an advocate of the taxpayer looking for waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government. Congressman Jordan currently serves as chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and also serves on the House Oversight Committee. As one of the most conservative members of Congress, his efforts have earned him recognition from Citizens Against Government Waste, the Family Research Council, and he received Americans for Tax Reform’s “Friend of the Taxpayer” Award.
Jordan emphasized the importance of voting in the upcoming midterm elections. He stressed the need to maintain Republican control of the House and Senate to avoid reversals of the progress made during President Trump’s current term. Maintaining a closed border, cracking down on fraud and abuse, ensuring secure elections, avoiding repeated attempts to impeach President Trump, maintaining the integrity of the Supreme Court, and protecting our energy resources are critical goals to combat the attempts of Democratic-Socialists to gain control of Congress.
Jordan, like most Republicans, believes that cutting taxes and letting families keep more of what they earn helps build strong communities and maintains a vibrant economy. In Mercer County, all countywide offices are held by Republicans, and our county consistently has one of the lowest rates of unemployment in the state of Ohio. Mercer County has a strong local economy with low unemployment and stable business and agricultural growth due to the ongoing importance of family values and effective conservative fiscalmanagement.

Congressman Jordan strongly emphasized and endorsed Senator John Husted for reelection to the Senate and spoke highly of Vivek Ramaswamy, the Republican candidate for Governor. He feels we have a strong field of candidates at the state level, including Mercer County’s Keith Faber running to be Ohio’s next Attorney General. Maintaining Republican control of Ohio’s leadership is imperative to ensure Ohio’s ongoing success.

In his introductory remarks, Chair Bob Hibner spoke of the importance of getting out the vote in the midterms to ensure that we are properly represented at the national, state, and local levels. Issue 3, which will add to Ohio’s Constitution the requirement that a voter must have a valid ID when voting, will further protect thatrequirement from any future attempts to liberalize voting standards in Ohio. Voting “Yes” on Issue 3 will help protect the security and integrity of the election process in Ohio. Hibner, who has been the Chair of the Mercer County Republican Party since 2022, was named the “2026 Republican of the Year” by its membership. Chair Hibner acknowledged Sammi Timmerman and Jeff Larmore as co-chairs of the Reagan Day Committee and he thanked Romer’s Catering for hosting an excellent event.
