An Update from State Senator Susan Manchester
September 2026
The past few months have been an exciting time for our family and for the 12th Senate District. I enjoyed spending much of the summer at home with our new son, James, and was happy to attend several special events both in Columbus and the district. It was wonderful to stay connected to our communities and see so many familiar faces this summer.

As I returned to my regular schedule in September, I’ve enjoyed getting back into the swing of things and reconnecting with local leaders, students, employers, community organizations, and constituents throughout the 12th Senate District. These conversations are always a valuable opportunity to hear what is happening in our communities, learn about local priorities, and better understand how we can continue supporting the people who call our district home.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to be back and look forward to all that the fall has in store throughout the district and at the Statehouse. Thank you, as always, for staying engaged with our office and for giving us the opportunity to serve you!

During our last legislative session in June, I was proud to join my colleagues in passing Ohio’s capital budget, which included important investments in communities across the 12th Senate District. These investments are made at the request of our community stakeholders and highlight the importance of public-private partnerships. For a complete list of projects supported, click here.

In July, I joined my colleagues from the House and Senate at the Ohio State Fair for the Joint Agricultural Committee Meeting. We were able to hear from and celebrate Ohio’s agricultural community and the many people who make this industry such an important part of our state. I was especially excited to hear from Paige Gehret of Versailles FFA who testified on the many benefits of student participation in FFA.

Additionally, I’ve held a number of meetings to begin planning for the end of the General Assembly. With important legislative work ahead, these discussions are helping us prepare, prioritize, and make the most of the months remaining in the session. I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue listening, collaborating, and preparing to bring the voices of the people I represent back to the Statehouse.

I was honored to participate in the dedication of the Waynesfield Veterans Memorial Park, recognizing the service and sacrifice of the veterans who have served our country. It was especially meaningful to celebrate this addition to the park in my hometown and honor the families and loved ones who carry their legacy forward.

I’ve also enjoyed getting back into the district and meeting with local leaders, organizations, and community members. I met with school treasurers from across the district to hear about the needs of our local schools. I had the opportunity to visit Warriors Way, a veteran-focused nonprofit that uses hands-on skill-building programs, including blacksmithing, knife making, and archery, to support veterans and help strengthen their transition into civilian life. It was great to learn more about the work they are doing and see firsthand the community they have built for veterans.

Each of these conversations and visits provides a valuable perspective on the priorities and needs of our communities. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue listening, learning, and bringing what I hear back with me to the Statehouse.
