WAPAKONETA, OH — August 31, 2026 — The Auglaize County Board of Elections is issuing an urgent call for patriotic and community-minded citizens to fulfill a vital civic duty by serving as Poll Workers (also known as Precinct Election Officials) for the November 3, 2026, General Election.

Fair, transparent, and accurate elections depend on the dedication and bipartisan staffing of local volunteers.

“We need a full bipartisan roster of committed citizens to help run a smooth election. This November election is critical. Given the importance of the U.S. Senate, gubernatorial, and other statewide elected official contests, alongside the Ohio House contests and key local issues and levies, community participation is absolutely essential to ensure every voice is heard and every vote is counted.”

What is Required? The Board of Elections is looking for dedicated individuals to manage the polls on Election Day. Every polling location requires a bipartisan team to operate effectively.

  • WORK DAY: Poll workers must be available for a full shift on Election Day to assist with setting up the location, greeting and checking in voters, issuing ballots, assisting with equipment, closing the polls, and securing election materials.
  • TRAINING: Mandatory, paid training is provided by the Board of Elections.
  • COMPENSATION: Poll workers are fully compensated for their work on Election Day and for attending the training session.

Qualifications: To serve, you must:

  • Be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Be a registered voter in Auglaize County (or an eligible 17-year-old high school senior).
  • Attend a mandatory paid training session.
  • Not be a candidate or a candidate’s family member in the election you are working.
