(8-21-26) Kaci Rae Sentelik (19) of Payne was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at U.S. 30 and State Route 49 shortly after 9 a.m. this morning.

Sentelik was traveling south on State Route 49 and she stopped at the stop sign before proceeding across U.S. 30. She failed to see oncoming traffic and pulled into the path of a semi driven by Gavin Brady Smith (24) of Quincy, Michigan. Smith’s truck then struck Sentelik’s Toyota Corolla on the driver’s side.
The westbound lane of U.S. 30 was closed while the livestock Smith was carrying could be moved.
Sentelik was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, Convoy Fire Department, Van Wert Fire Department, Ohio Department of Transportation, Van Wert County Coroner’s Office, Hague Towing and Repair, Harting Farms and Gerten Deadstock.
The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
