(8-5-26) Funeral arrangements for a mother and her daughter have been announced for Susan Eilerman (84) and Sharon Eilerman (64) both of Fort Loramie who lost their lives in a Shelby County fatal crash on Monday.
The two died in a crash near State Route 47 and Dawson Road on August 3rd.

Susan “Sue” Gail (Botkin) Eilerman,
Age 84, of Monterey Drive, Fort Loramie, passed away suddenly, along with her daughter Shari, with injuries of an automobile accident in the morning of August 3, 2026, at the intersection of Dawson Road & St. Rt. 47 near Sidney, Ohio. She was born June 16, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Melvin & Rosabell “Rosy” (Westerheide) Botkin. On January 6, 1962, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster, Sue married Thomas Eilerman Sr. who preceded her in death on November 29, 2022. Surviving are two of five children: Sharon Eilerman (dec.), Thomas & Denise Eilerman of Fort Loramie, Kevin & Jill Eilerman of Fort Loramie, Timothy Eilerman (dec.) and Constance Seger (dec.) along with a daughter-in-law, Marcia & Alan (dec.) Mescher of Osgood and son-in-law, Donald Seger of Piqua; 11 of 13 grandchildren: Zachary (dec.), Veronica, Clayton and Heather Eilerman, Tony and Josh (dec.) Eilerman, Katie & Aaron McCollum, Nichole Schmitz, Shawn & Andrea and Mitchell Eilerman, Brad & Amy Seger, Michele & Dan Oman and DJ Seger & Danielle Griffith along with 13 great-grandchildren; three siblings: Trina & Mike Ahlers of Houston, TX, Jim & Barb Botkin of The Villages, FL, Joe & Jenny Botkin of Minster and a sister-in-law, Phyllis & Patrick (dec.) Eilerman of Sidney as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue was a 1960 graduate of Minster High School. Later in life she attended Edison State Community College in Piqua to acquire an associate degree in accounting. In 1998, she retired from Wilson Health Hospital in Sidney where she had been employed 25 years. Sue began as a nurses-aid and transitioned to the payroll office. Years ago, she worked for The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys. Since retiring, she worked part time for Abloom Flowers and Gifts in New Bremen as well as other local establishments.
Sue was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church where she had been active in the choir and bell choir. She belonged to St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality, the Fort Loramie Legion Auxiliary, Fort Loramie Historical Association (28 years), the Fort Loramie Booster Club and the Senior Center of Shelby County (book club and Senior Center Singers). Sue is Retired from Fort Loramie Rescue Squad and had also been a Fort Loramie Elementary School first grade aide/volunteer. Years ago, she was active in the Fort Loramie Youth Organization where she helped organize the early “Old Time 4th of July” celebrations. Sue was dedicated to her family and was affectionately close to her daughters and son in-laws. In her leisure, Sue enjoyed reading, building puzzles and especially singing in the choirs.
Susan and Sharon’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Monday, August 10, 2026, at St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Mark Bredestege and Deacon Paul Timmerman presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. Family and friends may call Sunday, 2:00 to 7:00 PM and Monday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie. Sharon “Shari” Susan Eilerman,
Age 64, of Monterey Drive, Fort Loramie, passed away suddenly, along with her mother, Sue, with injuries of an automobile accident in the morning of August 3, 2026, at the intersection of Dawson Road & St. Rt. 47 near Sidney, Ohio. She was born July 16, 1962, to the late Thomas Sr. & Susan (Botkin) Eilerman. She is survived by two of four siblings: Thomas & Denise Eilerman of Fort Loramie, Kevin & Jill Eilerman of Fort Loramie, Timothy Eilerman (dec.) and Constance Seger (dec.) along with a sister-in-law, Marcia & Alan (dec.) Mescher of Osgood and brother-in-law, Donald Seger of Piqua; 11 of 13 nieces and nephews: Zachary (dec.), Veronica, Clayton and Heather Eilerman, Tony and Josh (dec.) Eilerman, Katie & Aaron McCollum, Nichole Schmitz, Shawn & Andrea and Mitchell Eilerman, Brad & Amy Seger, Michele & Dan Oman and DJ Seger & Danielle Griffith; 13 great nieces and great nephews as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Shari was a 1980 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. She then went on to Miami University in Oxford to acquire a Batcheler of Science degree in Mathematics Education. Over the years, she also maintained various CPR and EMT instruction certifications. Shari retired from the Shelby County Sherrif’s office where she was primarily a dispatcher for 25 years. She had also been a substitute teacher for local schools and an EMT instructor. Additionally, she often helped with administrative bookwork at various emergency squads in the area.
Shari was a member of St. Michael Church where she had been a cantor and was also active in the choir and bell choir. She belonged to St. Ann’s Ladies Sodality, the Fort Loramie Legion Auxiliary (past president). She served as secretary for the Fort Loramie Historical Association, sang with the Senior Center Singers and was an Honor Member (past active member) of the Fort Loramie Rescue Squad. Years ago, she had been an “Old Time 4th of July” parade and committee volunteer. In her leisure, Shari loved to travel, especially cruses with family and friends.
