PRESS RELEASE

(5-19-26) On May 18, 2026 at approximately 5:20 p.m. Darke County Deputies along with Hollansburg Fire, Liberty Township Fire and Tri-Village Rescue responded to the area of Hollansburg-Tampico Road and Mikesell Road for a one-vehicle roll-over crash with the vehicle on fire and the driver trapped.

Preliminary investigation revealed a grey Chevy Suburban, driven by Heather Combs (48) of Hollansburg, was traveling northbound on Hollansburg-Tampico Road when her vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway colliding with a utility pole and rolling two times, coming to rest on its side. The vehicle then caught fire and due to the drivers’ injuries, she was unable to escape.

The driver was pulled out of the vehicle by the two residents who lived across from the crash. The driver was transported to Wayne HealthCare for her injuries.

CareFlight was also called but couldn’t respond due to the weather conditions.
