(UPDATED) The St. Marys Chief, Chief Ayers, has issued a news release.
The deceased has been identified as Christopher R. Brown (41), a resident of St. Marys.
(7-31-25) A St. Marys building, located at 305 East Spring Street, collapsed this morning. This afternoon one body has been located but not identified. Another person had been pulled from the location after first responders arrived and was transported to the hospital.
The building was being worked on at the time of the incident due to the structural integrity. Two individuals who lived were not involved in the collapse.
St. Marys Fire Department firefighters were evacuated and were safe after the building started to collapse again. Outside help to search the building have been called to assist.
Spring Street was closed after the incident.
