(5-3-25) Rodney Hinton Jr., (38) who allegedly hit and killed a Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy on Friday afternoon at Martin Luther King Drive and Burnet Woods Drive near the University of Cincinnati was in court today.

Hinton was charged with aggravated murder, in connection with the deputy’s death.

The judge ordered that Hinton to be held without bail in the Clermont County Jail, because of safety concerns, until his bond hearing on Tuesday.

The recently retired deputy, whose name was withheld (***Larry Henderson), was working as a special deputy and directing traffic near the university during graduation events.

Ryan Hinton (18), was reported to have been armed, is alleged to have been killed by police at approximately 10 a.m. on Thursday morning in East Price Hill. This is after Hinton and three other men, are alleged by thrpolice to have stolen a Kia out of Northern Kentucky and driven the car to the parking lot of an apartment complex, which resulted in Hinton’s death after he allegedly pointed a gun at a police officer.

Two of the other suspects involved in the alleged car theft were identified as Jurell Austin (18) and DeAnthony Bullucks (19), who have been charged with receiving stolen property and felony obstructing official business. A third suspect is still at large.

After the meeting with the police department, Ryan Hinton’s father left in his own vehicle and that was the last we heard from him until learning about the tragic incident involving a law enforcement officer who was working a traffic detail near the University of Cincinnati.”
