(3-2-23) Dunkirk (Indiana) Police say Shelia L. Keeylen (32) set fire to curtains in her home in the 100 block of West Washington Street.

Keeylen was charged in Jay Circuit Court this week with arson, a Level 4 felony carrying up to 12 years in prison.

Last Friday afternoon emergency responders were called to a fire at Keeylen’s home. When police arrived Keeylen told the officer she was “very intoxicated” and that candles she had lit had ignited window curtains in the living room.

During an interview with a state fire marshal’s office arson investigator Keeylen admitted that she had set the curtains on fire with her cigarette lighter.

Keeylen is currently being held in the Jay County Jail in Portland. A trial date has not yet been scheduled.
