(12-21-22) The Stateline is preparing for a possible major winter storm event just before Christmas. The predictions include many different factors that could put a damper on the Christmas season.
According to the National Waether Service in Wilmington a winter storm watch has been issued for Northwest Ohio and parts of Indiana for Thursday evening through Friday afternoon. Expected impacts include snow and blowing snow that will cause hazardous travel leading into Christmas. More headlines are likely as the event unfolds.
Rain will quickly turn to snow on Thursday night. 1 to 2 inches are forecast. Biggest concern Thursday night is the potential for a flash freeze due to rapidly falling temperatures which may affect the morning commute Friday morning.
The NWS is growing increasingly concerned about the potential for a flash freeze Thu night, esp. as precip is expected along the front. Temps may dip as much as 35 degrees in any one location in a 6-hr span early Fri AM, which is close to historical records in the area.
