(10-28-22) On October 27, 2022 at approximately 3:25am, Officers of the Kokomo Police Department responded to an apartment located at 2205 S. Washington St. in reference to a residential entry in progress. Upon Officers arrival, they located three male residents who were holding another male at gunpoint in the apartment. The residents informed Officers that the detained, unknown male had entered their apartment wearing a ski mask and pointing a handgun at them. The residents grabbed the suspect and began struggling with him until the gun was knocked away from the suspects hand. During the struggle, the suspect pulled a second handgun out. As the residents tried to disarm the suspect a second time, the handgun went off but did not strike anyone. One of the residents retrieved his own handgun and held the suspect at gunpoint until the police arrived. As a result of the struggle with the residents the suspect received multiple facial injuries.

As a result of the investigation Marrell B. Tyler (18) of Merrillville, Indiana was arrested for Burglary, Level 2 Felony. Tyler was transported to Community Howard Hospital for treatment for his injuries and then taken to the Howard County Criminal Justice Center.
