(9-6-22) Today, at about 9:42 a.m., the Lima Police Department received a call about a possible shooting in the 3100 block of Elijah Pkwy. Upon their arrival, patrol officers learned of two individuals, kicking in a door and forcing their way into one of the apartments, where one of the two subjects estranged wife lived. One of the individuals assaulted the adult resident, who was the only occupant at the time of the incident. The two assailants made their way up to the second floor and the resident fled from the apartment. While the two subjects were alone inside, something occurred and a shot was fired. One of the subjects was shot. The two men fled the residence and made their way toward Toledo, where both of them currently live.

A witness observed the vehicle fleeing at a high rate of speed, and contacted L.P.D. communications operators with the license plate number, as it was fleeing the city. The vehicle was rented by the known suspect’s current live-in girlfriend in Toledo. The known suspect is Demarkus Hardison (31) of Toledo. He is currently on parole with the Ohio Adult Parole Authority. Investigators were aware that the unknown white male suspect was shot during the incident and began checking hospitals on the way to Toledo. He was located at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, undergoing treatment for gunshot wounds. The unknown white male suspect was identified as Rolland Houke (29) who is also from the Toledo area and also on Parole with the Ohio Adult Parole Authority. Rolland Houke was dropped off at the hospital and Hardison continued to flee northbound.

Investigators began tracking Demarkus Hardison, a short time after arriving at the scene. With the assistance of the Toledo Police Department Gang Unit, Hardison was captured at about 3:22 p.m., in Toledo, attempting to clean out the vehicle used during the incident. He was taken into custody on several warrants, including one from this incident. He is being held in the Lucas County Jail and arrangements will be made at a later date to extradite him back to Lima to answer for the charges resulting from this incident, in Allen County Common Pleas Court.
