(7-18-22) Shannon L. Skiver (46) Celina was arrested by the Jay County Sheriff’s Office after leaving the scene of an accident on U.S. 27 about 3:40 a.m. Sunday.
Skiver was driving south on the highway near its intersection with county road 200 South when he swerved his car left of center, overcorrected and drove off the west side of the road.
Skiver’s 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe crashed into three mailboxes and broke them. Skiver drove back onto the road and continued driving south until he was stoped stopped by a Jay County deputy.
Skiver was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident, a Class B misdemeanor and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor.
He was later released on his own recognizance from the Jay County Jail.
Skiver’s vehicle was towed. Damage is estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
