(7-13-22) According to the Columbus Dispatch story a Columbus man has been charged with impregnating a 10-year-old Ohio girl, whose travel to Indiana to seek an abortion led to international attention following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade and activation of Ohio’s abortion law.
Gershon Fuentes (27) Columbus, according to a an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) source he is a Guatemalan illegal immigrant, was arrested Tuesday after police said he confessed to raping the child on at least two occasions. He’s since been charged with rape, a felony of the first degree in Ohio.
Columbus Police were informed of the girl’s pregnancy by a referral from the Franklin County Children Services that was made by her mother on June 22. On June 30, the girl underwent a medical abortion in Indianapolis.
AG Yost’s Statement on Arrest of Man Who Raped 10-Year-Old Ohio Girl
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) — Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost today issued the following statement regarding Columbus Police Department’s arrest of the rapist that impregnated a 10-year-old victim.
“My heart aches for the pain suffered by this young child. I am grateful for the diligent work of the Columbus Police Department in securing a confession and getting a rapist off the street.
Justice must be served and BCI stands ready to support law enforcement across Ohio putting these criminals behind bars.”
