City of Tiffin statement on resignation of Zack Perkins

TIFFIN, Ohio – July 13, 2022 – On Tuesday evening, July 12, Zack Perkins sent a statement to members of Tiffin City Council and City Administration announcing his decision to decline accepting the Mayoral position and to resign from Tiffin City Council.

In Perkins’ statement to Council, which he has released publicly, he acknowledged negativity following his election by Tiffin City Council to the Mayor’s seat during a special meeting

The afternoon of July 11, prior to the 6 p.m. special meeting of City Council, an email containing allegations concerning Perkins was sent to three council members. The letter was not discussed during Monday night’s special meeting. The letter was not shared prior to the meeting with Acting Mayor Bridget Boyle or any member of City Administration.

On the morning of July 12, a local newspaper reporter made a public records request to the Clerk of Council and Director of Law for the letter. The Clerk of Council did not receive this letter. It was released by the Director of Law once he became aware of its existence.

Tiffin City Council will meet in public session for a special meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 14, 2022, in Council Chambers at Tiffin City Hall, 51 E. Market St., Tiffin.

For consideration: To elect a new President Pro Tempore and to discuss how Council would like to proceed with fulfilling the vacancy of Mayor, as well as any other business Council may consider.
