(5-17-22) The Allen County (Indiana) Coroner’s Office has identified the young boy, Rory McBride (6) of Monroeville, who died in a house fire on Sunday in Monroeville.
Rory’s cause of death is thermal burns and smoke inhalation and the manner of death is considered an accident.
The Monroeville Fire Department was dispatched to the fire around 5 a.m. Sunday in the 14400 block of South State Road 101, about 1 mile south of Monroeville Community Park.

After firefighters got the fire under control, after 6 1/2 hours, they went inside and found Rory dead inside.
Other members of the family managed who were able to escape from the fire and were taken to the hospital.
The fire is under investigation by detectives with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, the state Fire Marshal, the Allen County Fire Arson Specialized Team and the coroner’s office.
