MARIA STEIN, Ohio (February 14, 2022) – On Sunday, February 13th, Father Dan Schmitmeyer, Vocations Director for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, held a special Mass & presentation for married couples. The event was held in conjunction with World Marriage Day and National Marriage Week (February 7 – 14), which is observed annually in dioceses and parishes throughout our country as an opportunity to focus on building a culture of life and love by supporting marriage as the foundation of family.

Father Schmitmeyer, an Anna native, travelled from the Cincinnati area to celebrate Mass before the Super Bowl. After, guests then joined him upstairs in the Shrine’s Upper Room for lunch, where he reflected on the solid foundation of his own Catholic upbringing. Sharing stories of his own families long and fruitful lineage, which included both parents and grandparents being married for over 60 years, he credited the success to keeping God and prayer at the center of their marriages.

Matt Hess, Director of Ministries at the Shrine, stated, “Response to this year’s event was overwhelming. It is always refreshing to see Christians strive to live holy and life-giving marriages. We are grateful for Fr. Dan reminding us of the importance of the vocation of marriage, which calls spouses to help lead each other and their children to heaven.”
