Celina, OH, January 20th, 2022 – Empty Bowls Mercer County will kick-off with a marathon “Create-A-Bowl” painting party on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Brew Nation/Potters House on Main St. in Celina. Community members will come together to create hand-painted bowls for the “Empty Bowls Dinner & Auction” that takes place on April 2, 2022. Empty Bowls Mercer County is a signature fundraiser for Our Home Family Resource Center.

Kevin Draiss, Director at Our Home Family Resource Center

“Create-A-Bowl is an enjoyable way to support a great cause. Participants have fun creating unique bowls that reflect their personality.” But, Kevin says, it is much more than painting bowls.

“Empty Bowls embraces everything I love about Mercer County. It is local people, coming together, to help our friends and neighbors in their time of need. The funds collected are helping local people survive domestic violence and sexual assault, rebuild parent-child relationships, and overcome financial crisis and food insecurity. There are few causes more meaningful and few, if any, communities that do it better.”

Each painter is asked to donate or collect funds to cover the cost of supplies ($25 minimum) and will paint two bowls. Individuals who donate $50.00 or more will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win prizes. After firing, the 200 unique hand-painted bowls will be gifted to attendees of the “Empty Bowls Dinner & Auction” as a visual reminder of both the empty bowls that need to be filled in this county, and the commitment of this community to fill them.

Our Home Family Resource Center is a nonprofit 501c3 organization located at 117 W. Fayette Street in Celina. The goal for this year’s campaign is $29,000.
