CELINA – As of October 20, 2021, the Mercer County Health District (MCHD) reports 5,130 confirmed cases, 1,029 probable cases, 4,862 recovered cases, 8 known hospitalizations, 97 COVID-19 deaths, and 21 probable deaths of COVID-19 among Mercer County residents. In addition, there have been 57 confirmed cases who have passed away due to causes other than COVID-19. Out of the cumulative total of confirmed cases, there has been a total of 55 reinfections of COVID-19.Today, there are 118 known active cases of COVID-19 in Mercer County.
There have been 66 confirmed and 16 probable cases of COVID-19 among fully vaccinated Mercer County residents. Of those individuals, 13 were hospitalized and have since recovered. Four have passed away.
The transmission rate of COVID-19 in Mercer County continues to be high. A high transmission rate is defined as 100 or more new cases per 100,000 people in a 7-day period or a test positivity rate of 10% or higher. Mercer County has seen 276 cases per 100,000 people in the past seven days and has a test positivity rate of 19.6%. This data can be found here: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view.
The MCHD would like to thank the volunteers and community partners who assisted with our recent Pfizer COVID-19 booster clinic and drive-thru flu shot clinic at the Mercer County Fairgrounds. These events would not be possible without the help of these individuals.
