(9-15-21) On Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at about 8:30AM Celina Police responded to a call of an erratic driver coming into town on Frahm Pike from SR118. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop on Summit St. The suspect vehicle, a 2007 Cadillac SUV turned into the Marathon service station on N Main St at Summit St in an attempt to elude officers. A man exited from the driver’s seat and fled on foot southwest to the Plaza parking lot. The man, 26 year old Kyler Lawrence (26) of Portland, Indiana was caught on the parking lot by a Celina Police officer, Patrolman A.J. Poppe.

Lawrence aggressively resisted Ptl. Poppe’s arrest, attempting to escape. A Celina man, Brian Moeller ran from his business, Gentlemen’s Quarters and assisted Ptl. Poppe in gaining control of Lawrence.

Lawrence was found to have multiple warrants in Jay County, Indiana for dealing in methamphetamines. He also had suspected meth on his person at the time of arrest. More was found in the vehicle.


A female passenger in the Cadillac was also found to be in possession of drugs, suspected fentanyl. While being processed into jail she was also found to be hiding more on her person. She was identified as Christian Mae Scott (20) of Portland, Indiana.

Both are being held in the Mercer County JAdult Dention Centerpending an initial appearance in court. The charges will be determined by a Mercer County Grand Jury on September 16th.
