(7-23-21) Celina Mayor Jeff Hazel at Thursday night’s Celina Planning Commission meeting seemed concerned with a new project in the building of a new Dunkin’ donuts facility.

During the meeting Hazel, who is a member of the planning commission, stated his concern in a Daily Standard story –

“Their access drive … it is going on the Menards lot. So Menards does own that, so they have to have something in writing from Menards to allow that access. Because we can’t approve to drive on somebody else’s property.”

Hazel and his wife Patty presently own and operate Hazelnut Coffee Company in Celina on South Ash Street.

According to the Hometown Opportunity web page…Hazelnut features drip-brew coffees, Espresso drinks and Lattes, a large variety of specialty teas, fruit smoothies, and a secret recipe Hot Chocolate. Hazelnut features made-from-scratch gluten-free and regular pastries; Quiches, cookies and desserts; gourmet oatmeals and breakfast sandwiches.

The Dunkin’ menu is very similar and has expanded over the past several years. According to the Dunkin’ web pageDunkin’ is a market leader in the hot regular/decaf/flavored coffee, iced regular/decaf/flavored coffee, donut, bagel and muffin categories.

Dunkin and Danop, who would own the business, has other Dunkin’s in place, in April of 2020 they operated 10 Dunkin’ locations and 13 Taco Bell locations.

After discussion the group approved the site plan review contingent on Menards allowing the store access to the lot in question.
