Bert Ely

(6-25-21) Former Ohio City resident Bart B. Ely (49) was arrested by an FBI task force Tuesday in Englewood on bank robbery charges.

Ely was a named suspect in at least three other recent bank robberies in parts of the Stateline region. Those robberies include Englewood, Tipp City , Troy and Bluffton, Indiana.

Ely remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail Friday afternoon.

Ely might also be the man who robbed a Chase Bank in Lima recently. Pictures posted by Lima authorities would indicate the possibility.

The case against Ely will be handled by federal investigators.
