(6-3-21) Four members of a Ft. Wayne family murdered yesterday have been identified.

  • The first victim was identified as 26-year-old Sarah Nicole Zent, mother of the three children listed below, of Fort Wayne her cause of death was determined to be strangulation and multiple stab wounds.
  • 5-year-old Carter Mathew Zent, cause of death has been determined to be multiple stab wounds,
  • 3-year-old Ashton Duwayne Zent, cause of death has been determined to be multiple stab wounds.
  • 2-year-old Aubree Christine Zent, cause of death has been determined to be multiple stab wounds.

The four deaths bring the total to 21 for Allen County in 2021.

Fort Wayne and Indiana State Police detectives said thta the suspect, Cohen Bennett Hancz-Barron (21), was apprehended at around 5 p.m. Wednesday at Romney Meadows Apartment Homes in Lafayette. He had his first court appearance today.

Hancz-Barron and Zent had earlier been in a relationship.

Hancz-Barron was serving the remainder of a robbery conviction at a drug rehabilitation center in Tippecanoe County and walked away from the facility in April and was wanted on a warrant for his arrest.
