(5-7-21) On May 6, 2021 at about 7:52PM the Celina Police Department assisted the Celina Fire Department on a call of a residential fire at 513 E. Anthony St., Celina. Upon arrival smoke could be seen rolling from under the eaves of the house. Officers determined that all were out of the residence.
One resident, Renee D. Lovelace (43), was in an agitated state. Officers tried to speak with her and calm her down. She suddenly lashed out at one officer and slapped him. She was taken into custody and booked into Mercer Detention Center on charges of Aggravated Arson and Assault, both felonies. Further charges pending review of the Mercer Co. Prosecutor’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation by the Celina Police Department, the Celina Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal. Bond was set by Judge Kathryn Speelman at $75,000.
What is wrong with people. You do as the Police Officers say, not as what you say. You respect them, not Disobey them. Police Officers are to Serve and to Protect. They are doing their job of what has to be done. You are not going to win no matter what the circumstances are if you are in the wrong.
