CELINA (4-26-21)– In observance of National Volunteer Week, Mercer County Commissioners Jerry Laffin and Rick Muhlenkamp presented a Proclamation on Friday to the volunteers who have assisted the MCHD with COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru clinics since the mass clinics began in January.

The Proclamation recognized the volunteers for their efforts in assisting MCHD with greeting, registering, vaccinating, and observing individuals during the COVID-19 vaccine drive-thru clinics. Upon completion of the drive-thru clinics, these volunteers will have participated in 23 drive-thru events.

Local volunteers have also assisted the MCHD with other COVID-19 response activities such as contact tracing, staffing the COVID-19 hotline call center, and assisting individuals with registering for the COVID-19 vaccine clinics. To this date, volunteers have dedicated over 5000 hours to the COVID-19 response.

With a paid staff of 19 people, the MCHD could not possibly meet the demands of a large-scale response to a public health threat without the help of these dedicated volunteers.
