(12-2-20) While the MED Foundation of Mercer Health canceled the 2020 Mercer Health Charity Ball due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the affiliated Corvette Reverse Raffle continued as planned. Beginning Monday, November 16 through Friday, November 20, 150 tickets were pulled and announced each day on Facebook. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 21, the remaining 250 tickets were drawn.
Moorman, Hartings & Company, the local business that both sponsors and supervises the annual Corvette Raffle, pulled the remaining tickets and Dr. Edward Hosbach, family physician at Mercer Health Medical Group, provided live updates via Mercer Health’s Facebook.
Deb Hemmelgarn, Director of the MED Foundation, shared –
“Mercer Health was devastated to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Charity ball. While we knew it was the best decision for the health and safety of our community, it was still a disappointment. We made the very best of it and continued on with the raffle – we tried to come up with innovative ways to make it fun and interactive for people watching at home.”
The winner of the 2020 Blade Silver Metallic Corvette Stingray Coupe was purchased by Mallory Clark of Paulding, Ohio, with ticket number 798.
Hemmelgarn said –
“The MED Foundation is so grateful for the community’s continued support, especially as we navigated the uncertainties of this year. We were fortunate to have several Charity Ball sponsors willing to shift gears and continue to support the MED Foundation by sponsoring the Corvette Raffle this year.”
