(11-30-20) Mercer County Sheriff, Jeff Grey reports that his office investigated a traffic crash on 11-29-2020 that resulted in the arrest of the driver.  Grey advised that his office received a call of a traffic crash on 11-29-2020 at 12:26 PM.  Grey advised that this was a single vehicle crash that resulted in a minor injury to the driver.  When deputies arrived on scene, they report that the driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.  The deputies conducted field sobriety test on the female and concluded that she was under the influence.

The female driver, Jennifer L Woods (30) of 610 W Logan Street Celina, Ohio was arrested for OVI.   During the pat down of her person, a syringe was located in her pocket, which she indicated was used to inject heroin about an hour prior to the crash.

Deputies conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle with their office K-9 (Ossi).  Ossi alerted to the presence of drugs inside the car.  Deputies towed the car from the scene and secured the vehicle until today (11-30-2020), when they applied for and received a search warrant for the car.   Deputies located a white powder substance inside the vehicle.  The substance is being sent to the lab for testing.

Woods appeared in Celina Municipal Court this morning, where she pled guilty the OVI and Possession of Drug Abuse Instruments and received 120 days in jail.

The Sheriff’s Office is waiting on the lab results of the white powder.  Once the powder is identified, the remaining case will be sent to the Mercer County Prosecutor, Matt Fox for review.
