(9-21-20) Rockford Police Chief Paul May reports that on September 19th, 2020 Patrolman Ryan On was on Stationary Patrol when he spotted a 2015 Toyota Camry run a stop sign in the Village of Rockford.
Ptl. On then initiated a traffic stop for the violation and the vehicle slowed but continued for two blocks. The vehicle then pulled into a closed bank parking lot. Ptl. On approached the driver and learned that the male and female in the car were from High Point, North Carolina. The vehicle being driven was reported as being stolen.
The 15 year old female was entered into National Crime Information Center (N.C.I.C) as a run away. Both juveniles were detained and contact was made with the High Point, North Carolina Police and contact was made with their parents.
Both juveniles where reunited with there parents on Sunday morning and the car was claimed by the owner.
Chief May would like to thank the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, Mercer County Sheriff’s Dispatchers, Mercer County Job and Family Services and the High Point, North Carolina Police Department for a quick and safe outcome.
Chief May congratulated Patrolman Ryan On for an outstanding outcome for locating the missing teens and stolen vehicle. On has been with the Rockford Police for only three months and is a May 2020 graduate of the Wright State Lake Campus Police Academy.
