(8-6-20) Two area men are facing unlawful sexual conduct charges with minors, one in Mercer County and the other taking place in Van Wert County.
Randell Jones (42) of Celina has been arrested on a 3rd degree felony charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. A complaint filed in Celina Muncipal Court states that Jones is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with an underage female between October of 2018 to December of 2019.
Jones is being held in the Mercer County Adult Detention Facility on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on August 14th.
In Van Wert County Common Pleas Court yesterday.
Nicholas Tarbet (25) of Lima, entered not guilty pleas to one count of rape, a felony of the first degree; two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, and one count of gross sexual imposition, all felonies of the fourth degree. A $50,000 cash bond was set in the case, and a pretrial conference scheduled for 9:30 a.m. August 19.
According to the indictment the acts allegedly happened between October of 2019 to January of this year. The victim was a 15-year-old when the first incident occurred, it is suspected that Tarbet knew the victim could not resist due to having a mental or physical condition.

Phillip Schmidt (46) of Celina, pleaded not guilty to one count of intimidation, a felony of the third degree. He was ordered held on a $25,000 cash bond and a pretrial conference was scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 19.
