CELINA- As of August 5, 2020, the Mercer County Health District (MCHD) reports 555 confirmed cases (an increase of 26 confirmed cases since yesterday), 14 probable cases, 409 recovered cases, 138 pending cases, 2,208 negative cases, 3 hospitalizations, 12 deaths, and 1 probable death of COVID-19. Currently, there are 133 active cases of COVID-19 in Mercer County.

Effective today, the MCHD will no longer be providing detailed information on each confirmed case in our daily press releases.  As the MCHD staff continues to handle a large volume of work, we are looking to work more efficiently by eliminating duplication of effort where possible.

As previously announced by Governor DeWine, Mercer County has the highest number of cases in the state per 100,000 residents over the past two weeks. Mercer Health has stated they have seen an increase in emergency department patients with respiratory symptoms in July. While some people who have tested positive for COVID-19 have had only minor symptoms, it’s important to remember that others could become severely ill. The people at the highest risk include older adults and people with underlying medical conditions.
