COLUMBUS (5-12-20) – State Rep. Susan Manchester (R-Waynesfield) responded to Governor DeWine’s delay in announcing a plan to reopen childcare programs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Manchester said –
“As Ohioans begin returning to work, parents need immediate access to safe and quality childcare. Childcare programs already maintain strict cleanliness standards, and we must provide them with additional guidance and resources to ensure to a safe and healthy environment moving forward.”
Before the Governor’s press conference yesterday, Manchester and State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) submitted a bipartisan letter to the administration calling for the creation of a work group focused on planning for statewide access to childcare. The work group would draw expertise from childcare professionals, business, and medical professionals in order to balance the timely reopening of childcare programs with public health considerations.
“I stand ready to support efforts by the administration that will safely reopen childcare programs as soon as possible.”
