(11-27-19) This morning at around 10:02 am the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call from 210 W. Pearl Street in Rockford . The caller stated that her husband was going to hurt himself with a firearm.
Rockford Police Chief Paul May responded to the area and a safety perimeter was established with help from Mercer County Sheriff Deputies and Celina Police Department Officers.
Dispatchers then made contact via phone with the adult male at the residence and they were able to get him to come outside. Officers spoke to him and resolved the issue peacefully.
Because a firearm was mentioned in the 9-1-1 call, officers take extra precautions in these situations, but in this case no firearms were displayed or used.
The man was transported to Mercer Health for evaluation. The incident will be sent for review of charges and no names will be released at this time.
