(6-1-19) The Ohio State Highway Patrol is  investigating a small plane crash that occurred around 7:30 p.m. May 31 west of SR 118 and north of Oregon Road in Mercer County.

The Federal Aviation Administration and NTSB were contacted and will be investigating.

The pilot of the crop duster, Aaron William Phillips (46) Redfield, Kansas, was able to get out of the aircraft plane and was taken to Coldwater Hospital with minor injuries.

The Ohio State Patrol report says the 1996 Air Tractor AT-502B plane struck the high tension power lines south of Fetters Road, lost control, and crashed into a nearby field.

Troopers were assisted ath the scene by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Mercer County EMA and Rockford Fire and EMS.

It is the second crop duster to go down in the Rockford area in the past year, the last one happened in early July near the intersection of Erastus-Durbin and Rockford West roads outside of Rockford.
