(5-2-19) The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that Clifford Tyler (41) and his son Caleb Tyler (11) were killed Tuesday Night when a giant tree fell without warning, there was little or no wind at the time of the accident when it crushed the vehicle that they were traveling in on Old County Route 33 just south of Athens. The Ohio State Patrol is still investigating the accident.

Clifford Tyler , who was born in Van Wert, was a 1995 Graduate of Parkway High School. Clifford Tyler is survived by his daughter Callie, a sister, Sara (Paul Sturwold, III) Tyler of Van Wert; his partner Cindi Lucas and her three daughters, Janey, Audrey, Kayla; and a niece, Charlee.

Caleb was a four sport athlete at Alexander Middle School in Albany.

His mother,  J. Margot Tyler, told Fox 28 :

“ I don’t know that it helps explain (the accident), but knowing that he’s with Jesus makes it easier to cope. Love your kids and tell ’em that you love them. You never know what will happen.”

ATHENS – Clifford Leo “Rocky” Tyler, III, 41, of Athens died along with his 11 year old son, Clifford Leo “Caleb” Tyler, IV, as a result of an accident, Tuesday, April 30, 2019.

Born August 17, 1977 in Van Wert, he was the son of Penny L. Feasby Tyler of Rockford and the late Clifford Leo Tyler, Jr.

He was a graduate of Parkway High School and was employed with Airclaws Heating and Cooling. He loved the outdoors including fishing, and sports along with his family.

Besides his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Callie; a sister, Sara (Paul Sturwold, III) Tyler of Van Wert; his partner Cindi Lucas and her three daughters, Janey, Audrey, Kayla; and a niece, Charlee.

A combined memorial service for Rocky and his son Caleb will be 1PM on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Christ Community Wesley Church with Rev. David Holdren officiating. Friends may call at the church from 11:00AM until the time of the service.
