(3-27-19) Cridersville Police Chief John Drake has resigned after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of falsification.
Under a plea deal with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Drake permanently resigned his Ohio peace officer training academy certification.
According to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office the charge was associated with making a false statement on a notarized document. Drake signed for a notary and used the notary’s stamp on a license suspension form from an OVI traffic stop.
Drake was placed on administrative leave this past August (2018) but had returned to work on a limited capacity. Drake was also fined $50 dollars.
The case was investigated by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
