(3-22-19) The Celina Kiwanis Club began March with a busy board of directors meeting. Hans Rehrmann updated the members on the Aktion Club’s activities. As the club’s main representative to the Aktion Club, Rehrmann regularly attends their meetings. A charter member of the Celina Kiwanis, he also runs the club’s newsletter and website. He’s currently looking for an assistant to train for the job.
Secretary Linda Goodwin reviewed the list of donation requests the club had received since the last board meeting. The members voted to send donations to the Mercer County Special Olympics, the CHS After Prom Committee, the Arts in the Park program, and the MAV Youth Mentoring program. Since the club runs several raffles during the year, they decided not to participate in the Columbus club’s summer raffle. The club is looking into information about sponsoring a soccer club for the Celina Rec. Department.
President Dale Hart led a discussion of possible new fundraising opportunities. Hart and Karen Perts offered several suggestions. Perts volunteered to research the topic.
Since a director’s position was open, Director Amy Broering nominated Karen Perts to fill the spot for the remainder of the 2017—2019 term. Perts had expressed interest in becoming more involved in the club. She was voted onto the board unanimously.
The club gained two new members through a corporate membership from The People’s Bank.
