On November 17, Mercer Health’s Charity Ball returned for the fourth time since its reintroduction. More than 350 guests enjoyed an elegant Cirque de la Vie themed evening at the Galleria in Celina, complete with a social hour, a three-course meal and live entertainment.
This year’s theme allowed for exciting and unique entertainment provided by Jellison Entertainment. Live dancers were featured during the event’s social hour and dinner, followed by a performance by silk aerialist Renee Christine. Live music by Indianapolis cover band My Yellow Rickshaw rounded out the evening’s entertainment.
Deb Hemmelgarn, MED Foundation director and event chairperson
“The entertainment this year was truly outstanding! Our guests were mesmerized by the performers. It is awesome to see the committee’s vision come to life and to see the faces of our guests as surprises were unveiled throughout the evening.”
In conjunction with the Charity Ball, a Racing Yellow 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe was given away in a 1,000 ticket reverse raffle. Emilie Pottkotter of Ft. Recovery held winning ticket number 927.

The Charity Ball, reintroduced in 2015 to commemorate Mercer Health’s 65th anniversary, dates back to 1950. The original Charity Ball, orchestrated by the now disbanded Auxiliary of Mercer County Community Hospital, set a gold standard for local community social events while supporting the hospital. In its reincarnation, the Charity Ball, now coordinated by a committee of volunteers from the community led by Hemmelgarn, continues to support the local healthcare needs of the community.
“The Charity Ball continues to be a unique and elegant fun-filled event for our guests. I am so thankful for the dedicated committee who willingly share their many talents with the MED Foundation and Mercer Health by helping to put on this great event. It takes a year of meetings, planning and dreaming to pull off a successful event like this.”
The 2018 Charity Ball committee included Vennila Amaran, Danielle Dues, Linda Finke, JoAnn Hartings, Jaime Hawk, Connie Hein, Stacy Klosterman, Mindy Kremer, Lindsey Moeller, Morgan Post, Liz Schmackers, Kathy Speelman, Nycky Stammen, Tafi Stober, Dee Uhlenhake, Mandy Wendel, Becca Wenning and Mary Lou Wenning.
All proceeds from this year’s Charity Ball will support the Building on a Promise Campaign to support the West Wing Expansion at Mercer County Community Hospital.
The 2019 Mercer Health Charity Ball will be held on Saturday, November 16.
