(10-1-18) CELINA, OH – Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his deputies have conducted two extraditions from Florida in the last week.

On Tuesday, September 25, 2018, two deputies flew to Jacksonville, Florida to pick up a male on charges out of the Mercer County Common Pleas Court.  Noah C. Nolan, 20 years of age, had been charged with Felonious Assault, a felony of the second degree, and had failed to appear for his hearings.  He was incarcerated at the Lake City Correctional Facility in Lake City, Florida.  He was sentenced in that Court to over 3 years in prison and had requested that his case in Mercer County be started.  Due to federal law, Mr. Nolan was required to be picked up and transported back to Mercer County for proceedings.  He will be returned to Lake City Correctional after his case in Mercer County is complete.  Deputies returned with him to the Mercer County Jail on September 26, 2018.

On Monday, October 1, 2018, two deputies flew to the Daytona Beach Airport to pick up a male for a Probation Violation through the Mercer County Common Pleas Court.  Alex R. Dues, 27 years of age, had been convicted of Attempted Felonious Assault, a felony of the third degree.  A warrant was issued for Mr. Dues’ arrest on August 20, 2018 after he violated probation by being arrested for OVI in Florida.  He was arrested by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and after serving his sentence there, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office was notified that he was ready for pickup.  He will be returned to the Mercer County Jail later on October 1, 2018.
