(9-28-18)Members of the Tailgate for Cancer organization spoke to the Celina Kiwanis at their meeting on September 26. The nonprofit group will hold its 2018 tailgate event in the Eagles parking lot at 404 E. Spring St. in St. Marys on Saturday, October 13 for the OSU vs. Minnesota game. Activities include a 5K run/walk, auctions and raffles of Buckeye memorabilia, 50/50 drawings, the game on two big screen TVs, and live bands. The grand door prize is cruise tickets for two on the 2019 Buckeye Cruise for Cancer. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the tailgate event, the group will raffle off a 2018 Avalon tri-toon pontoon. This raffle is sponsored by the Boathouse at Grand Lake in Celina. Tickets are $100. Only 1,000 will be sold. Community members can also support the fundraiser by purchasing t-shirts and “Honor Boards.” Supporters are urged to order special t-shirts and wear them to the St Marys football game on October 12. “Honor Boards” will be placed along the 5K route and at the tailgate location in honor of cancer survivors or in memory of loved ones.
