On July 26, the Zahn-Marion Township Library completed its 2018 summer reading program, “Libraries Rock!” with 399 children participating.

A party to celebrate the program’s completion was held at the American Legion in Maria Stein.

The top two readers in grades one through five were announced at the start of the party.  They are first-grade – Isaac Siefring, 135 books and Heidi Lause 110 books; second grade – Lauren McClurg, 110 books and Lilah Ray 70 books; third-grade – Justin Bergman, 236 books and Faith and Logan Ronnebaum each with 170 books; fourth-grade – Nathan Winner, 84 books and Abraham Siefring 65 books; fifth-grade – R. J. Olberding, 70 books and Mia Wolters 56 books.

The top readers each received a light blue-colored “Libraries Rock!” t-shirt for their accomplishment.

Entertainment at the party was provided by Madcap Puppets from Cincinnati.

The program concluded with prizes, awards and certificates for all the summer reading participants.  The children were congratulated for all their hard work.

Winners in the preschool reading program were Audrey McClurg, flying disk; Layna Schroeder, mini sports balls, Marcus Hoying, bubble sticks, Abigail Klosterman and Lucas Moeller, sidewalk chalk, Tyler Frey, paddle set, Jenessa Schwieterman, bucket of prizes, Julie Wynk, sand castle pail, Aubrey Knapke, stuffed monkey and Nora Hartings, Grady Muhlenkamp, Josie Muhlenkamp and Noah Tobe, Maria Stein Dairy Station gift certificates.

Additional winners in the grades one through fifth program were Alex Grieshop and Nathan Winner, books with candy and Danae Birt, Raygen Kramer, Bennett Poeppelman and Lucas Schlarman, Maria Stein Dairy Station gift certificates.
