(4-9-18) – The Lake Area Arts Group will showcase Hannah Thees, Spoons and Such (Silver Creations) for their last student workshop of the school year at St Henry Library on Saturday,April 21st ,10:00 to 11:30 am.

Hannah, grew up in St Henry, studied at Columbus College of Art and Design, and now works with vintage silver flatware and precious stones like turquoise, lapis, and onyx. Since 2012 her business has grown and she was recently a featured artist at Artistry Under The Dome. Thees finds her inspiration at yard sales, thrift shops, and estate sales and then heads to her studio in Cincinnati where she sketches her designs. The process of cutting, sanding, polishing, soldering, tumbling, and gem setting ends up in a one of a kind piece as a pair of earrings, a necklace, rings, bracelets, and or a unique key chain Hannah says:

” I love seeing a piece come together from a piece of tarnished nothing to a shiny new piece of wearable art”.

Students attending this no cost workshop will be able to turn a silver spoon into their own bookmark learning to stamp letters into the metal. Applications can be obtained from school art teachers. See some of her designs on Facebook at Spoons and Such.

The public is invited to a Meet the Artist Reception at CJ Highmarks, Celina on Friday. April 20th,6-8pm where Hannah Thees will show her creations and talk about her career and the making of her jewelry. Any interested students can attend.
