UPDATED: 10:39 PM 2-15-18 – Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced today that his office was called to the scene of an industrial accident at the Village of Mendon Utility Department located at 340 East Market St. A 911 call was received at 11:32 AM for a male stuck in an auger.
Through the investigation, it was found that 49 year old Brendan Poling, an employee for the Village of Mendon and resident of rural Mendon, had climbed inside the bed of a dump truck carrying salt. It appeared Poling slipped into the salt auger, where he was later discovered by another village employee.
Mr. Poling was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by both the Mendon Fire Department and Celina EMS.
(2-15-18) Officials are reporting that one person has dies as the result of an industrial accident that took place at the Mendon Water Treatment plant around noon today.
The victim’s name is known, b ut will not be released until it is made official, additional details will be updated as soon as officials release them.
