Sharing love this Valentine’s Day can be an amazing experience. Local artist Rhonda Hager has been able to share her experiences with the community in several special ways.
Rhonda has 16 original paintings and specially selected prints and notecards available for purchase in the Auxiliary Gift Shoppe at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Mary’s, Ohio (200 St. Clair St, 45885) for the month of February as the featured artist.
You can also see Rhonda in action as the Auxiliary Gift Shoppe hosts a special “Meet the Artist” event on Thursday, February 8. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that will also include a live painting demonstration. Visitors will receive a free gift notecard just for stopping by!
Rhonda recently debuted her newest work – a boxed set of a dozen original rose notecards titled “Created to be Loved” at an event at the Meeting Place on Market Street in Lima, Ohio. Each card was created from Rhonda’s 12 original rose paintings. These works inspired Rhonda to help her daughter in a special way.
“My daughter has been so supportive, especially with our RhondaHager.com website, so when she was fundraising for her mission trip to Jordan, I wanted to help.”
Just in time for Valentine’s Day this gift set of a dozen rose notecards is locally available at The Meeting Place gift shop and JTDM Hospital Auxiliary Gift Shoppe in St. Mary’s, Ohio.
“All proceeds from this card set go to my daughter’s mission trip to Jordan.”
“This missions fundraising experience also inspired me to create a painting I titled ‘Beautiful Jordan’ after researching the amazing scenery near Jordan. “This scene is at the edge of the Dead Sea where the salt creates interesting and beautiful formations.”
Earlier this month Rhonda featured this work at a paint night fundraiser for her daughter in Columbus, Ohio.
“Many of my inspirations come at inopportune moments. I was recently inspired by a beautiful sunset while drivin. It was super cold and I was on my way to church, but I knew I had to stop and photograph this scene before it all disappeared. The next day I was compelled to put what I had seen on canvas, which resulted in ‘Winter Glow’ (8 x 10 acrylic on canvas).
Rhonda also began displaying her artwork at a new restaurant in Spencerville, Ohio named “The Little Kozy” located on 100 E. Third Street (https://www.facebook.com/TheLittleKozy/) and opened an Etsy store at https://www.etsy.com/shop/ImpressionsByRhonda where you can also purchase the “Created to be Loved” set.
Rhonda will be the featured artist at two local sites for the month of April. The first at Mercer County’s premier art exhibit and sale “Artistry Under the Dome, at the Saint Charles senior living community in Cartagena, Ohio and the second at the Riverside Art Center in Wapakoneta, Ohio where they will host an opening reception on April 14 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Rhonda will also facilitate another “Paint and Praise” event at the local Youth Center in New Bremen, Ohio (212 South Walnut Street) on April 21st to raise funds for the tea house mission trip.
“I feel like God is giving me a second chance to pursue my dream to be an artist! I have learned to seek God first by reading the Bible and praying before doing any painting, and I try to seize the moments to paint even if I only have an hour or two at a time.”
Rhonda lives in Auglaize County with her husband Jay. She enjoys creating in this area, which has given her many points of inspiration for her paintings from the beautiful farm scenery to the beauty of Grand Lake St. Mary’s. Visit www.rhondahager.com.
