The Mercer County Fair Board in its monthly (October) newsletter reported that attendance, thanks to the good weather, was up for the 2017 Fair.
Mercer County Fair Manager Cara Muhlenkamp
“We broke several records with the 165th annual Mercer County Fair. Our attendance was up 74%! This was a wonderful thing to achieve after last year’s rained out fair.”
Among other records broken during the fair week were: Bear Hollow Wood Carver’s annual auction of the chainsaw carvings donated over $6,000 back to local school athletics and charities; Pork Pavilion sold 3,000 sausage sandwiches and the Mercer County Cattlemen sold 11,800 hamburgers.
New events and attractions also drew crowds to the fair. Cooking demonstration and inspirational presentation by Fr. Leo Patalinghug, was well received, as were the live bears of Bearadise Ranch, live concert by Granger Smith and Brothers Osborne, the Lil Tikes Tent, Moo U Tours and W.A.R. Wrestling.
