UPDATED: 9-6-17 – According to WCSM News, Dulcie McFarland, 49,  of St Marys,  has passed away. A Lutheran (Ft. Wayne) Hospital spokesperson has confirmed this morning that she passed away from injuries suffered after her car was submerged into Grand Lake on Labor Day.

McFarland is the second person who has lost her life in Grand Lake this year.

The accident remains under investigation by law enforcement officials.

UPDATED: 9-5-17 – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has identified the driver of the car that into the channel at Windy Point. Dulcie McFarland, 49, of St Marys. She was taken to Ft Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital, no other information on her condition or the reason on how the vehicle in ended up submerged in the lake.

Law enforcement officials are still in the process of investigating the incident.

(9-4-17) Montezuma Fire Chief Ron Schulze reports that early Monday morning his department received a call that a car had driven into Grand Lake into the channel at Windy Point. When the Montezuma FD arrived they found a female in the car and she was taken from the vehicle and placed into the squad car and driven to the hospital. No condition reports were available at this time.

The Celina Fire Department Dive Team was involved to make sure no one else was submerged in the water. Other departments helping were the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Coldwater Squad 10 and ODNR was also on site.

In late May a Portland, Indiana man drowned in Grand Lake near Monteauma after jumping off of a pontoon boat.
