(10-8-26) Portland firefighters responded to assist a 28 year old male who was working inside a dust collection grain bin when the worker was unable to exit the grain bin, after being overcome by soybean dust, heat, and exhaustion.

Crews were able to lower a ladder into the bin and help the worker climb out. Firefighters then used the aerial ladder to bring the worker down to the waiting EMS crew. He was evaluated on scene and declined further treatment.

Portland Professional Fire Fighters Local 5356 is proud of the teamwork and dedication shown by our members and our part-time firefighters.
The coworkers and the Jay County EMS personnel also assisted with the response.
