BELLEFONTAINE, OHIO (10-6-26) — A Bellefontaine City Schools choir teacher has been arrested on an importuning charge involving a juvenile.

Brice Henry

According to Logan County Jail records, Brice Tanner Henry (33) was booked into custody early Monday morning, October 5, 2026.

Henry faces the following charge:

Importuning — ORC 2907.07(B)

Ohio Revised Code § 2907.07(B) — Importuning addresses certain solicitation of a minor.

Under the current statute, generally:

  • The offender is 18 or older.
  • The offender is at least 4 years older than the other person.
  • The other person is 13, 14, or 15 years old.
  • The offender solicits the person to engage in sexual conduct with the offender.
  • The statute applies whether or not the offender actually knew the person’s age in the circumstances described in § 2907.07(B)(1).
Penalty

A first violation of ORC 2907.07(B) is generally a fifth-degree felony (F5). There is a presumption of a prison term under the statute. Certain circumstances—such as the offender being 10 or more years older and arranging a meeting for sexual activity—can trigger a mandatory prison term.

If the offender has a prior conviction for a qualifying sexually oriented or child-victim offense, a B violation can become a fourth-degree felony (F4) with a mandatory prison term of at least 12 months.

The reported charge involves an alleged victim described under the statute as being 13, 14, or 15 years old.

Bellefontaine City Schools Superintendent Brad Hall confirmed that Henry is a district staff member and said the district was notified of his arrest Monday morning.

According to the school district, the alleged incident occurred off school grounds and did not take place on school property.

Effective immediately, the district says Henry has been:

  • Placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the legal process
  • Denied access to district facilities and systems

The district says it is cooperating fully with the Bellefontaine Police Department’s ongoing investigation.

Henry has served as a choir director for Bellefontaine City Schools, working with the district’s middle and high school choir programs.
