(9-26-26) Meet the newest additions to the Toledo Zoo herd, a male camel calf born August 23rd to mom Elham and dad Nico and a new giraffe, named Stanley, born September 16th to first time mom Rae and dad Rocket.
This little guy is already winning over his keepers and especially enjoys bottle feedings, staff interaction and plenty of scratches.
For now, he’ll remain behind the scenes as he continues to get acclimated to his new surroundings and keepers.
Guests may catch a glimpse of Stanley through the indoor giraffe viewing window near Tower Ridge.
A neonatal exam confirmed that both mom and calf are healthy and thriving.
Viewing may vary as Stanley continues to settle in.
Stanley is reticulated giraffe calf is of the reticulated giraffe species (Giraffa reticulata), recognizable by its striking coat of large, chestnut-colored patches separated by bright white lines.
