(9-15-26 New Knoxville School is pleased to announce it has received a $1,201 STEM grant from the Toshiba America Foundation (TAF). These funds will support the Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, and Physics classes at New Knoxville High School.

The “Bionic Innovations” project is an outstanding example of Mrs. Natalie Stuttler’s passion for science education and her commitment to creating innovative and meaningful learning experiences for students. Through this project, Mrs. Stuttler is creating a truly interdisciplinary experience that mirrors the collaboration found in today’s biomedical and engineering fields.

The opportunity for students to design, 3D-print, and test robotic prosthetic hands using muscle sensors will provide hands-on learning experiences that are both rigorous and highly engaging. Students will be able to apply concepts from science, technology, engineering, and mathematics while developing problem-solving, creativity, collaboration, and critical-thinking skills.

This innovative project would not be possible without the generous support of Toshiba and their commitment to supporting STEM education. We are incredibly grateful for this grant and the opportunities it will provide our students to explore real-world applications of science and engineering in an exciting and meaningful way.

Toshiba America Foundation’s grants fund projects designed by individual classroom teachers. This “direct-to-teacher” approach brings immediate results. Teachers are able to change the way they teach Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects because the grant supports equipment for hands-on experiments and inquiry-based approaches to the curriculum.
